lyrics

He's a hard man, he's a quiet man, oh soldier boy, what they took from him.
But he's a beating heart. Had a heartbreak start. Lonesome cowboy, what'd they do to him?

And he's been up since 3:00 AM, and his eyes are black and far away.
Nobody's strong enough to bare the sins of man. hold on, please hold on.

And come back baby, don't look through my eyes. You've been out there riding again, tell me where you've been.
I miss you so much. You're here but you're not here. It's getting dark again, lonesome cowboy.

And he'll be up at 3:00 AM again, and he'll be cold and so far away. Nobody's strong enough to bare the sins of man. Hold on, please hold on, hold on...

Oh America, bless your poor little heart, you are suffering. You are falling apart. If love can't find us all and make a brand new start, I fear the fight will fall to the blind and cold at heart.

This land is your land, this land is my land, and broken soldier boys need a gentle hand. Courageous cowgirls, we can take a stand, and hold on, please hold on, hold on.
